A Day in Tumbleweed (2017)
A Day In Tumbleweed was a short Wild West -themed text adventure created for a Bachelor's thesis. Its purpose was to act as a demonstration of the game elements that were discussed in the thesis; such as characters, setting, and the narrative. This is by no means a perfect game and that has been acknowledged, but it functioned well as a demonstrative piece, and as a first introduction into the complex world of text adventure narrative creation. The Grimoire (Global Game Jam 2016)
Created in 48 hours during the Global Game Jam 2016. The theme on that year was "Ritual". As a team, we decided to steer away from dark rituals and focus instead on a casual puzzle perspective. Spell circles are often connected to rituals and magic. Therefore, we created a game where a potential magic wielder would learn their ritual circles from. Game play is simple: the player needs to repeat the shown patterns. The only rules are that the whole pattern needs to be created with just one line, and no drawn path can be traveled again. We managed to create a functioning game with 8 different puzzles. I was the project manager, lead designer and an artist in this project. The team consisted of four people: 3 artists and one programmer. I lead the development and assigned tasks to the team members, as well as collaborating with them in order to create all the needed assets. (Full credits and more game details can be found on the Game Jam website). Give the game a try (requires a download from the Global Game Jam website.) |
Uhkavaara - Kaupunkiseikkailu (2015)
This side scroller game was created for The Finnish National Rescue Association (SPEK). It is a safety education game for 6-7 year-old children. It features different city environments during all seasons of the year in different levels, in which the players will encounter varying everyday hazards and obstacles that they will tackle with their wits and equipment. The aim of the game is to educate children on what hazards are present in their living environments and how they should act if they encounter them. I was the acting project manager and lead designer in this project, leading a team of artists, sound designers and other contributors. The project lasted around 9 months from start to completion. The game has since been removed from the Appstore, but an information page can be found HERE. |
Cabin Fever (Global Game Jam 2015)
This is my team's product from the Global Game Jam that was held in January 2015. Our theme was "What do we do know?" and we approached it from a traditional point and click genre's perspective. Our idea was that you were stuck inside a room, but that the room changed every time you slept. You'd have to use the items you discovered, move them from room to room and solve why you're there. The game was not finished, and there are some puzzles entirely missing - but it can be completed. My role in this project was to lead the team as a project manager and to create the items needed for the puzzles. I worked alongside two artists and a team of coders (full credits on the game jam website). Give it a try (requires download from the game jam website) |
MoonQuest
MoonQuest was created as the result of a school course in 2013. The intention of the course was to familiarize ourselves with the program called Construct 2 and to create a small space shooter level with it. This is by far not a complete game, it's purpose is merely to serve as practice into creating game mechanics and the different assets needed for the game.
